I spoke with John, Brian's new Dad, as they were about a half an hour from home in GA.

He said that Brian had slept most of the way home,.. with his head in their son's lap,..

Then he said,..That he couldn't believe how much Brian reminded him of their Setter that had passed,.. he said it was uncanny,..

It doesn't get much better than this is the world of Rescue,. Brian waited over a year for his furever home,..
Guess the best things ARE worth waiting for!!

Brian Was A Sweet Heart All the Way!

The time grew near, and the last leg had not yet been filled!

Jeanne Writes:

OH PLEASE PLEASE this boy has been promised that he will leave for his new home tomorrow.
He had his bath this evening and he has said his goodbyes to the staff and he's ready for his trip.
He is not a problem, he is very sweet, loved his hydrosurge bath this evening and stood like a champ for the primping and drying.

The weather has been horrible here and it is still raining and everything is muddy so we will try to keep him on concrete so he stays clean.
He will have his adoption papers and his vet workup information, a new collar and lead.

He can stay overnite at a boarding facility but it will stress him out - a straight run would be a lot better for the dog.

Thank you all so much for helping this boy get to his new home.
He deserves a second chance.

YEAH YEAH YEAH FROM THE STAFF !!!

and thank you all for your time and efforts. Brian met the second leg of his transport this morning at 7:30 and is on his way. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Driver leg 3

Brian riding up front w/me from Balto to Winchester, VA.
He started out up front, looking out the windows or resting his head on my lap.
Then he got sleepy and climbed in back and took a nap.
Only managed one decent snap of him due to the time crunch, but it's a cute one :).

From Peggy
Leg # 5
Let me weight in with the rest.

Brian is a sweet heart, even if he did try to sleep dangling half off my seat until he fell off onto the floor knocking my gear shift into neutral on the way!

He's a sweetie and he is hungry I think.

Glad to help. Peggy

Lisa Driver Leg # 6

Hi Sue, This is Lisa in Roanoke.... just got back to my computer after the run earlier today.
Brian was such a great boy and a wonderful passenger, he stretched out on the back seat and slept the entire time from Roanoke to Bristol.

He was very sweet and listened very well and walked great on his leash when it was potty break time.
I brought along my camera and wouldn't you know it, all the batteries were dead, had i thought about it ahead of time, I'd have recharged them, but that thought never crossed my mind!

I'm happy to see someone thought about it and took some!

When we met up with Barbara in Bristol, his tail started wagging as if he knew this was another new friend on his journey, even before we got out of the car - i'm thinking maybe he did know something very special was just a few hours away.
I sure hope he's settling into his new home right now and gets to have the life he so deserves.

13 months Later I Recieved an Email,..

From Jeanne,..

Brian has been adopted,. can we set up a Transport??

Gosh, I would have gladly driven out to MD. myself and taken him all the way to Georgia,.. to his new HOME!!

Jeanne said that his new Family didn't even feel the need to meet Brian in person, first, before they adopted him.

They had no other dogs, as their other Setter had passed away, and the house was much too quiet,.

They spoke to Jeanne about Brian, and decided to make him a new member of their family!

So I went to work on his transport home,...this was a first for me with Eastern Shore, as they adopt locally most of the time,...

As a coordinator these are the transports that are most rewarding,...a dog to their new fur ever home,..especially when I was the one who sent him into rescue from WI.

The route from MD. to GA. was one I was not so familiar with,..I had to really dig to find enough drivers to get him home,..

As the weekend arrived, Brian was bathed and pampered like a King,..it was bittersweeet as the staff had become attatched to Brian, he had been there OVER A YEAR!!,..

Jeanne said he stood there like a good boy while they bathed and dried him,..
He knew he was going home!!

Months Passed,...

I would go to the Eastern Shore website and see his sweet face looking back at me,...hoping each time that I would see an "ADOPTED" sign below his name.

I visited Eastern Shore this summer, and had the pleasure of actually meeting this boy,..what a sweet boy he was,..

Time Passed,..

Rain was soon adopted, and off to her furever home,..

Brian (Bryer), was still at Eastern Shore,..

Brian had become very afraid of other dogs, he would react when others were near,. come to find out he had been attacked by another dog while in MI.
So Brian had to be adopted as an "Only" dog!

Last year, Early December,

Last year early December we got a call about some English Setters in MI. who had been taken in by the local humane society,.. they were victums of a a "Mill " type Hoarding Case ,

Bryer

Two of the dogs that Eastern Shore Animal Rescue League took in took in where full of parasites,.. very ,very skinny,..

the young male was afraid of everything, and the older female was just plain worn out,..
